The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of warehouse equipment, conveyor systems, and facility infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operations at Serv-U-Success’ Grandville Distribution Center, and support as needed at the Grand Rapids Express warehouse. This role is hands-on in a multi-level, pick-and-pack warehouse environment with a mezzanine structure and conveyor systems. The Technician performs both scheduled preventive maintenance and on-call emergency support to sustain seven-day-a-week operations.  


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on conveyor systems, equipment, and building infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace conveyor components such as motors, belts, rollers, and bearings.
  • Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of conveyor lines and related systems.
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance (e.g., fixtures, ballasts, wiring tasks not requiring a licensed electrician).
  • Follow lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and safety standards.
  • Maintain safe exterior grounds, including snow and ice removal, salting walkways, and general upkeep.
  • Assist with general facility maintenance (e.g., lighting, doors, fixtures, structural needs).
  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, eyewash stations).
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and notify management when replacements are required.
  • Respond to on-call and emergency maintenance needs (nights, weekends, and holidays as required).
  • Accurately document maintenance activities and communicate promptly with management about issues or risks.

Desired Education, Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in maintenance-related fields preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in warehouse, industrial, or facility maintenance preferred.
  • Experience with conveyor systems, motors, belts, and rollers strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems; able to perform non-licensed electrical troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and demonstrated commitment to safe work procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and an acceptable driving record.
  • As we support a 364-day-a-year business and are busiest on weekends and holidays, flexibility and the desire to work irregular/weekend hours and on-call shifts are strongly desired. 


$20 - $24 an hour
