Job Description:
I. Position Summary:
The Storekeeper is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing food supplies and products for the Food Services Department. Responsible for inspecting all containers and covers to ensure that they are in good condition. The Storekeeper will work closely with the Receiving Supervisor to ensure that the Storeroom is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. Deliver MOW daily.
II Position Responsibilities:
On a daily basis, receive and store food supplies/products according to established procedures or as directed. Always practice FIFO when storing all foods.
When receiving food, inspect all containers, covers, crates, cans, etc., to determine that they are in good condition as received. Determine that all products are kosher.
Label and Date all perishable foods received.
Subsequent to receiving food, store it in its appropriate environment as soon as possible according to established routines or as directed. Perishable foods should be stored first to preserve their quality. When storing food items, arrange them systematically according to the commodity.
Maintain the storeroom, loading dock, refrigerators, and freezers in a clean, sanitary condition; clean them daily if necessary.
Move racks and sweep, and mop the entire storeroom daily
Clean air curtains Daily
Do not allow odd items to accumulate, e.g., pallets.
Check daily temperature sheets on refrigerators and freezers.
Follow and ensure adherence to pertinent safety rules and regulations
Assist the supervisor in establishing and maintaining ordering and inventory systems.
Call in milk and ice cream when needed.
Contribute to the efficient and productive operation of the department.
Deliver MOW Daily
Exhibit timely completion of assignments with minimal assistance and appropriate follow-up.
Exercise initiative, seeking additional tasks and projects from the supervisor.
Accept assignments readily.
Recognize problems independently and work toward improving systems and procedures.
Wears an identification badge in a visible area above the waistline
Wears uniform at all times.
Perform additional related duties as required or as directed.

IV. Qualifications
High school or equivalent.
1-2 years of experience
Must act in a professional manner
Must have an optimistic demeanor
Excellent oral communication skills
Able to adapt to changing priorities
Superb organizational skills.
Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change.
Knowledge of methods and procedures involved in purchasing, receiving, storing, and disbursing food supplies/products, and supervisory responsibilities.
Proficiency in record keeping and the use of pertinent computer applications, operation of fax, copier, etc.
Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required.
Must be able to speak and read fluently in the English language.
V. Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, pull, and push 50 pounds
