Onsite Training Manager
Position Summary
The Onsite Training Individually Contributing Manager (ICM) plays a key role in delivering and refining client-facing and internal training strategies. As a core member of the Onsite Training (OT) team, the ICM is responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality training collateral, supporting complex client engagements, and reinforcing internal standards of excellence through enablement, documentation, and quality oversight.
This role requires travel of up to 25%, including support for high-priority client training and on-site quality observations. ICMs are also expected to provide surge support during periods of high demand or low trainer capacity, which may include flexing to support additional onsite assignments or strategic project needs.
Each ICM is assigned a defined scope of responsibilities aligned to business needs, skill alignment, and department priorities. Responsibilities are distributed across the team based on current initiatives and capacity, with each ICM accountable for delivering on their assigned focus area. While areas of ownership may differ, the scope and expectations of the role remain consistent across the team. All ICMs are expected to contribute meaningfully to client support, content refinement, and department initiatives, with strategic assignments and visibility opportunities coordinated in partnership with OT leadership to ensure balance and alignment across the group.

You will collaborate with a wide range of peers across athena to imagine, build, and deliver Coaching & Training services for clients eager to get the most out of the athena network. You will be responsible for providing direct support, training, and strategic utilization recommendations to athenaOne clients, enabling them to achieve optimal adoption and maximum value from our services.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Deliver End User Training (EUT), Go Live Support (GLS), Specialized Training requests and/or Super User engagements
Support 3–5 key client accounts with trend monitoring, strategic insights, and tailored training plans and agendas
Participate in pre-Go Live planning and post-Go Live debriefs
Respond to client feedback and content-related escalations, when applicable
Collaborate with OT Managers and cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Client Services, Product, Enablement) to ensure training aligns with project expectations
Contribute to executive-facing updates and strategic readouts, as assigned across the ICM team
Additional Job Responsibilities
Maintain and update training materials (EUT agendas, prep guides, presentations, etc.) tied to assigned projects or client workflows
Take ownership of content areas or collateral linked to specific responsibilities or client portfolios
Customize training materials to reflect client-specific workflows and feedback
Contribute to and curate resources in the internal OT content library, ensuring tools remain accurate, relevant, and easily accessible
Collaborate with Product, Enablement, and Training Architects to scale content and improve training tools
Support quarterly planning, department process reviews, and special initiatives
Deliver onboarding, upskilling, and refresher training for OT trainers
Participate in internal certifications and coaching programs
Conduct Quality observations for OT trainers (remote and onsite)
Contribute to the administration and delivery of the OT Quality and Adherence Programs
Participate in cross-functional projects or operational initiatives as assigned
Expected Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; certifications in project management or training delivery preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience supporting onboarding, implementation, or training delivery for athenaOne or a comparable EHR platform
Proven ability to manage and execute complex client training assignments with minimal oversight
Strong project management skills, including task prioritization, coordination of deliverables, and ownership of timelines
Expected Compensation
$88,000 - $150,000The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
